Alleged gang member held after firearm, ammo seizure
KINGSTON, Jamaica — An alleged gang member was arrested after police seized an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition on Friday.
The discovery was made on Bond Street in Denham Town, Kingston 14, at the residence of the man who police believe to be an affiliate of the Tivoli/Young Generation gang from Tivoli Gardens.
He is expected to be charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
Reports indicate that around 5:00 pm, a joint police/military team conducted an intelligence-led targeted operation on Bond Street.
During the operation, the police found a Canik 9mm pistol with a magazine and 30 9mm rounds and two 40 rounds.
The police seized the weapon and ammunition and took the alleged gang member into custody for processing.
