Calabar High are once again on the hunt for a new football head coach following the end of Andrew Price’s three-year contract which has apparently not been renewed.

Price, a former assistant national football coach, was appointed by Calabar in July 2022 as head of the school’s entire football programme.

But after three years, the school’s quest for elusive silverware at the Under-19 level has been extended to 20 years, their last taste of Manning Cup glory coming in 2005.

On Sunday, a newspaper advertisement, under the headline “Football Program Head coach”, stated: “The Board of management of Calabar High School invites applicants from suitable, qualified and committed individuals to fill the post of football head coach”.

Calabar, which was formed in 1912, have won the Manning Cup on three occasions – in 1943, 1977 and 2005 – but have not been a major force in football over the last two decades.

The school is looking for someone with leadership skills and strategic vision to guide the football programme which includes the Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19 teams.

Price might not have won silverware, but in 2024 he led Calabar to the second round for the first time in seven years and barely missed the quarterfinal finishing behind St Catherine High and Jamaica College.
