Albion continues impressive start in U-13 football league

Albion continues impressive start in U-13 football league

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — Albion Primary took control of Zone C in the St James Football Association/VM Foundation Under-13 competition after beating second-placed Maldon Primary 2-0 at Wespow Park on Tuesday.

The result extended Albion’s winning run to four games.

Albion Primary join two-time defending champions Corinaldi Avenue Primary as teams with perfect win records. Albion are yet to concede a goal as they race towards qualification for the quarter-finals.

Daniel Chue gave Albion Primary the lead in the 26th minute before Austin Greaves added a second in the 48th when he headed past goalkeeper Dewayne Green. Greaves joins his twin brother Justin on one goal each.

Also on Tuesday, Catherine Hall came from a goal down to beat Buckingham Primary 3-1, also in Zone C.

Buckingham Primary took the lead in the 12th minute when Delantaye Fairclough scored his team’s second goal of the season, after getting past two defenders.

Joshua Cooker pulled Catherine Hall level in the 25th minute as they were tied 1-1 at half-time. Daequan Haughton gave Catherine Hall the lead in the 41st minute before Cooker completed his brace in the 44th minute.

On Monday, Barracks Road Primary won their fourth-straight game in Zone B, beating winless Tower Hill 3-1.

Kyle Stainrod scored a double for the winners. Stainrod scored in the eighth and 38th minutes while Shamary Blake scored his seventh goal of the season. Richard Davis scored a consolation goal for Tower Hill.

Also on Monday, Catadupa Primary came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Farm Primary.

Nathan French scored in the 21st minute and Nicholi Bailey in the 23rd to give Farm Primary a first-half lead before Jayden Hamilton pulled a goal back in the 31st minute. Jaheer Anderson earned a point for Catadupa in the 60th minute.

In another match, Fairfield Academy and John’s Hall ended 1-1.
