Volunteers Incorporated to transform Oasis Children’s Home on Labour Day

In celebration of Labour Day 2025, Volunteers Incorporated (VI) will lead a major volunteer-driven renovation project at the Oasis Children’s Home, located in Yallahs, St Thomas.

According to a press release, the event on May 23, 2025, is part of VI’s commitment to strengthening community through purposeful service. Over 20 volunteers, including skilled professionals and community members, will come together to repaint, repair, and install essential infrastructure at the facility—home to children with special developmental and psychosocial needs, the release stated.

It added that the day’s activities will include:

• Painting of key areas within the residence;
• Installation of windows for safety and comfort;
• Erection of a perimeter fence to enhance security; and
• General property cleanup and beautification

The Oasis Children’s Home, operated under the Moira Morgan & The Griffin Charitable Trust, provides a safe haven for vulnerable children and young people in need of long-term residential care. VI, a registered charitable organisation, has worked closely with the home to identify urgent needs and mobilise community support.

“This project is about much more than paint and repairs,” said Davor Bailey, President for Volunteers Incorporated. “It’s about restoring dignity, safety, and hope to the children who live here, and showing what’s possible when a community takes action together.”
