European football showdown

AC Milan hosts Bologna; Bournemouth welcome Aston Villa

This weekend’s set of games across Europe’s top five leagues will see some mouth-watering matchups, AC Milan will host Bologna in Italy, while red-hot Bournemouth will host European hopefuls Aston Villa.

Event # 1 – Serie A– AC Milan vs Bologna– 1:45PM

Following a difficult start to the season, AC Milan haven’t recovered sufficiently and are in danger of missing European football for the first time since 2016. They will be aiming to boost their chances of playing European football next season, but standing in their way later today is another team also fighting to secure European football for next season in the form of Bologna. With that said, for AC Milan to secure a top six position, they will need to win their final three matches of the season and hope other teams drop points along the way. And coincidently, one of the teams above them is Bologna, meaning that anything other than a win might see them missing Champions League football next season.

Meanwhile, this clash could be seen as a dress rehearsal for next Wednesday’s Coppa Italia Final with both Bologna and AC Milan facing off in that encounter. However, with so much on the line in Serie A, neither teams will be taking it easy as they continue to fight for a place in Europe next season. With that said, Bologna are sitting just one point off the top six and are also just one point off the top four, meaning a win away at AC Milan would boost their chances of securing a top six spot. Indeed, Bologna played in Europe’s elite competition this season and they will be eager to do so again next season. The Greyhounds, as they are referred to in Italy, will travel to AC Milan high on confidence, having beaten Champions League finalist Inter Milan and drawing with Juventus in a four-match unbeaten run, and given that they have lost just two of their last 14 away matches, they will be confident of securing a positive result against an inconsistent AC Milan side.

Key Stats

• AC Milan – AC Milan have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 home games but have lost just two of their last 18 home games.

• Bologna – Bologna have lost just four away games in the league all season. However, they have failed to score in their last two away games – losing to Atalanta (2-0) and drawing with Udinese (0-0).

• Both sides – In their last five meetings, AC Milan have won twice and have two draws, while Bologna won the reverse fixture when both teams met earlier this season – Bologna’s last away win against AC Milan came back in 2016.

The betting Tip. Draw.

Event # EPL – Bournemouth vs Aston Villa– 10:30AM

Bournemouth and Aston Villa will go head-to-head tomorrow, May 10, in a game that promises to be an intriguing encounter between two sides with contrasting objectives as the season nears its completion. Bournemouth, currently 10th, will be aiming for a top-half finish, while Aston Villa, seventh, are fighting for European qualification for next season. The Cherries, Bournemouth, have had an upturn in form recently, which has propelled them into the top half of the table as they are unbeaten in their last five league games, winning twice and drawing three times. Indeed, their most recent match saw them scoring a surprising but impressive 2-1 away win over Arsenal, a result that will undoubtedly boost their confidence heading into this vital clash with Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa now find themselves in a strong position as they push for European qualification, as they currently sit seventh in the league standing. Their recent form, however, has been somewhat inconsistent, with four wins and one defeat in their last five matches. But they enter this game off the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win over Fulham last weekend. With that said, Aston Villa have won five of their previous six games, with their only defeat during this run coming against Manchester City, a side that they are fighting tooth and nail with to secure a top five spot. Their recent excellent form could be threatened though, as they have had a shaky away record, losing eight games, but also winning seven. Indeed, this inconsistent away form could be cause for concern as they will be facing a Bournemouth side that has been particularly strong at their Vitality home stadium.

Key Stats

• Bournemouth– Bournemouth have seen both teams scoring in five of their last six home matches. Indeed, Bournemouth are unbeaten against Aston Villa in their last three home matches.

• Aston Villa–Aston Villa have seen both teams scoring in seven of their last 11 overall matches. Surprisingly, Aston Villa’s last away win against Bournemouth was in 2015.

• Both sides–Bournemouth have scored exactly one goal in their last six home matches, while Aston Villa have scored at least one goal in each of their last eight away matches.

The betting Tip. Draw & both teams to score.
