Monochrome Merlot
“Sublime. When two Jamaican gal link up, the results can only be legendary.”
This quote from @shekasgram, in response to Sheika Daley’s Instagram post, sums up how a lot of us feel about the beat she created for British-born, Rock-blooded actress Jodie Turner-Smith’s recent Met Gala appearance.
The Tron: Ares actress rode into the Superfine: Tailoring Black Style-themed Met Gala with poise, precision, and panache wearing a custom merlot Burberry look that proved one of the most visually captivating of the evening.
Tuesday Style Beauty (TSB) spotlights not only the style team behind the look — Burberry Creative Director Daniel Lee, legendary celebrity stylist Law Roach, and Turner’s go-to team of Wayman Bannerman and Micah McDonald — were inspired by a 1891 photograph of Black equestrian Selika Lazevski, and also the glam team of celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen, and Jamaican-born celebrity MUA Sheika Daley.
Daley created a monochromatic look with products from Haus Labs by Lady Gaga.
From the artist:
To complement the texture and deep merlot, I created her make-up look using @hauslabs.
I used Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation in 500 Deep Neutral and Triclone Skin Tech Hydrating + De-puffing Concealer in 50 Deep Golden to enhance her already flawless skin, using Bio-Blurring Loose Powder in Cocoa to set.
I contoured using Powder Sculpt Velvet Bronzer in Khaya Spice Deep then added colour to Jodie’s cheeks using Color Fuse Glassy Blush Balm Stick in Glassy Clove.
For Jodie’s eyes, we went for a subtle smoky eye by diffusing Hy-Power Pigment Paint in Black Onyx Matte on her lids and also using the Pigment paint as eyeliner.
For the perfect arched brows, I used The Edge Precision Brow Pencil in Brown Black and used B Structural Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara to her Elora Lane lashes.
Her look was completed with PHD Hybrid Lip Glaze in Fig on her lips.
