SVF celebrates ‘Mothers of State Care’ with brunch at Boone Hall Oasis
BEHIND the smile of every child in State care in the Jamaica system is a team of women who open their hearts daily, offering the embrace of motherhood to those who need it most.
In celebration of these often unsung maternal figures, the Supreme Ventures Foundation (SVF) hosted a special Mother’s Day brunch last Thursday at the lush Boone Hall Oasis in Stony Hill. The event honoured “Mothers in State Care”, women who dedicate their lives to nurturing children in State-run facilities across the island.
The women were treated to a well-deserved day of pampering and relaxation. The celebration began with a serene candle-making ‘pour and sip’ session, courtesy of L’Amour Jae Candle Bar, where guests explored their creative side and left with beautifully handcrafted candles.
The activity provided a peaceful outlet for self-expression, while also encouraging bonding among the caregivers.
Afterwards, guests enjoyed a carefully curated brunch set against the scenic backdrop of Boone Hall Oasis.
Each woman received a long-stemmed rose and a cupcake — small yet meaningful tokens of appreciation for the love and commitment they show daily to children in need.
Carlyn Stewart, regional director for the Northeast Region at the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA), expressed her gratitude for the event.
“It felt as though the entire world paused to recognise us as mothers, and that means so much. Many times, we keep going without expecting recognition, but today we felt seen, valued, and honoured. It was a beautiful reminder that the work we do truly matters,” said Stewart.
In the meantime, Chloleen Daley-Muschett, Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) assistant vice-president public relations and corporate affairs, applauded the women for the work they do each day.
“The role of a mother cannot be underestimated in a child’s development and emotional well-being. For many children in State care, these women become their surrogate mothers, offering comfort, stability, guidance, and love during what is often the most difficult time in these children’s lives. Today [Thursday] was about taking the time to pour into these women, the way they so selflessly pour into other,” said Daley-Muschett.
She pointed out that the brunch was part of SVF’s broader commitment to social impact and community development, especially in areas that support the welfare of children, and the empowerment of caregivers.
