Frazsiers Whip win 12th straight in JWPL
Defending champions and leaders Frazsiers Whip are inching closer to booking their place in the semi-finals of the Jamaica Women’s Premier League after hammering Proven Girls 9-0 in the return-round game played at Royale Lakes on Saturday for their 12th-straight victory.
Davia Richards scored five goals for Frazsiers Whip to take her tally to 24 goals and her team to 36 points, seven more than second-placed Cavalier SC, who were 2-0 winners on Saturday, along with third-placed Los Perfectos FC.
Cavalier maintained second place position with 29 points after beating Mile Gully FC, and hold two more points than Los Perfectos FC, who got the better of WiFi United.
Frazsiers Whip led 5-0 at half-time over the eighth-placed Proven Girls as Destiny Powell also got a double.
Richards opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute before Shaniel Buckley in the 20th minute and Nevillegail Able with her ninth of the season in the 21st minute made it 3-0; Richards got her second in the 26th and Powell got her first in the 37th minute.
Powell completed her brace in the 48th minute before Richards took over the scoring, finding the net in the 61st, 83rd and four minutes into time added on.
Deshanna Cole scored for Cavalier SC in the 26th minute and Shanel Spence scored her 20th in the 57th minute as they won their ninth game to stay ahead of Los Perfectos, who got goals from Venicia Reid, who scored her 12th of the season in the 19th minute, while Sashana Campbell doubled the advantage in the 54th minute.
UWI Women’s FC lost some momentum in the race for a semi-final place after they were beaten for the second-straight week, edged 1-0 by Real MoBay AFC at Granville Community Centre.
Daniel Beckford’s 57th-minute goal helped Real MoBay avenge their first-round loss, getting their second win of the season.
Adrianna Hall scored a double as Federal United came from a goal down at Prison Oval to beat Springers United 3-1 for their first win on the field this season.
Their only other win came in the boardroom where they were awarded points for their first-round game against Springers United after they had played out a 2-2 draw.
Former national junior player Fredricka Finikin had given Springers United the lead in the 32nd minute and they led until the 51st minute when Hall levelled the scores.
Yesheka Lewis gave Federal United the lead in the 55th minute before Hall cemented the points with her second goal of the game in the 65th minute.
