Fitz-Henley dismisses PNP complaint against PM as ‘nonsense’
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Senator Abka Fitz-Henley has dismissed a complaint filed by the People’s National Party (PNP) with the Political Ombudsman regarding statements made by Prime Minister Andrew Holness at a recent Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) conference.
The complaint stems from remarks delivered by Holness during the JLP’s West Central St James conference on Sunday. However, Fitz-Henley said the prime minister’s comments were misinterpreted by the PNP.
“The statement by the PNP indicating that they have complained to the Political Ombudsman about the prime minister’s utterances is nonsense,” Fitz-Henley said on Monday. “It lacks merit and has no basis.”

He argued that Holness was simply encouraging Jamaicans to “stand up for what is right” and exercise their constitutional right to take a stand, a principle, Fitz-Henley added, the PNP itself frequently invokes in reference to the constitution.
