St Lucia gov’t announces reduction in airport service taxes
CASTRIES, St Lucia (CMC) – The St Lucia government on Thursday said it has agreed to reduce the airport service charge by 50 per cent and that the new rate is applicable to commercial flights originating from any Caribbean destination to St Lucia and vice versa.
A government statement said that Prime Minister Philip Pierre has authorised the Statutory Instrument (SI), giving effect to the reduction effective June 1, 2025.
As a result, the airport service charge moves from EC$68 to EC$34 (One EC dollar = US$ 0.37 cents) for the next six months ending December 31, 2025.
“Lowering the airport service charge will benefit the thousands of airline passengers who depart and arrive in St Lucia from Caribbean destinations every week. This cost-cutting measure will positively impact regional air travel and underscores the Pierre Administration’s commitment to making interventions that are attentive to the needs of everyday St Lucians,” the statement said.
It said that reducing the airport service charge by 50 per cent reaffirms St Lucia’s commitment to “our shared objective with CARICOM of achieving regional integration, improving regional connectivity and reducing costs for our citizens.”
