Badman Forward celebrates 20th

UNITED States-based dancehall artiste Popeye Caution brought added flair to the Badman Forward 20th anniversary celebration headlined by Ding Dong and the Ravers Clavers on June 7.

The celebration, which took place at the Crown Hill Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, also featured Chronic Law, Capella Grey, Ron Browz, Dancing Rebel, TC, and Majah Hype, while other entertainment was provided by DJs Webstar Mixxy Payne and Suave Luciano.

“The highlight of the celebration, for me, was to see the crowd singing the tunes line for line and enjoying themselves. Also, sharing the stage with Ding Dong, Chronic Law, Rebel, and everybody, was just a good vibe enjoying the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Badman Forward,” Popeye Caution told the Jamaica Observer.

Badman Forward Badman Pull Up was initially a dance move that Ding Dong created within his community of Nannyville in St Andrew.

The track, which is still a staple in Jamaican-inspired dancehall, was produced by Ricky Blaze.

Popeye Caution and Ding Dong have teamed up on tracks like Good Ting Dem, Bezerk and WYFT (Weh Yuh Find This) featuring Busta Rhymes.

He explained that he and Ding Dong have a unique bond that spans almost two decades.

“Our working relationship is more of a brother vibe. We share ideas, we share moments, and we encourage each other to just do our best, and we just want the best for one another. It’s not really business with us; it’s more of a brother vibe for over 18 years,” he said.

The two have collaborations and a few other international performances in the works.
