KINGSTON, Jamaica—Jordan Scott set a new personal best 17.34m (1.1m/s) to win his second Wanda Diamond League event of the season after beating a quality field at Thursday’s Oslo Bislet Games in Norway, the sixth stop on the Wanda Diamond League series.
Scott, who had set his previous best of 17.27m at the Xiamen Diamond League meeting in China late April, got his big jump in the first round and held on to beat Olympic Games gold and silver medalist Pedro Pitchardo of Portugal, who was second with 17.06m (0.5m/s) with Germany’s Max Hess next with a wind aided 16.96m (2.4m/s).
The new mark saw Scott move up two places in the World Athletics rankings to fifth.
Olympic Games and World Championships silver medalist Shanieka Ricketts finished second in the women’s triple jump with 14.57m (0.0m/s), while her compatriot Ackelia Smith was sixth in a season’s best 14.26m (0.5m/s).
Cuba’s world leader Leyanis Perez Hernandez won with 14.72m (1.7m/s), while American Jasmine Moore was third with 14.41m (-0.1m/s).
