Emerging artistes have over the years complained about the lack of opportunities within the music industry. The complaints range from the lack of airplay to performance opportunities and more.

Manchester-based singer Asure has been trying to make inroads for the past 12 years. However, there seems to be a light ahead of the tunnel for him as his latest single Prayers a Work has been enjoying rotation on multiple radio stations locally.

“I was unable to make inroads in the music business before because of the corruption that exists and also the politics. A lot of the new producers do not appreciate good music as well,” Asure told the Jamaica Observer recently.

Since he teamed up with veteran producer and artiste manager Ralston Barrett of Symphony B Records, Asure says his career has experienced an uptick.

“I am tremendously pleased with the response that this song is receiving. It’s getting a lot of airplay, and it has also begun making inroads into other countries. I’m really grateful for the support,” he said, adding that he believes the song has the potential to be a hit. “From all indications, this song is going to be an anthem. My team and I believe that it has the potential to be a massive hit; therefore, we’re doing everything to make it happen.”

An official video for the song is currently in the works.

“My manager is currently putting things in place and making all the necessary arrangements for the video shoot. The video will be directed by one of the best music video directors in Jamaica. It’s going to be epic,” Asure disclosed.

Asure, whose given name is Garfield Reid, hails from Green Vale, Manchester. He launched his recording career in 2013 with the release of a single titled Mama, which was recorded under the stage name Solution Reid for PayDay Music.

He has also recorded for the likes of Riddim to Dem Music, Gold Mind Production, KJB Records, and Strength Fi Strength.

Said Asure: “So far the journey that I have experienced has been both good and bad, but it has been a learning process, and I have to keep pushing towards my dream. I have experienced some very hard and difficult times and prayer was the only solution.”
