YG Marley’s Praise Jah in the Moonlight goes double platinum in Canada
KINGSTON, Jamaica—YG Marley’s massive 2024 hit Praise Jah in the Moonlight, has earned another musical accolade.
On Friday, June 20, the song received a double platinum certification from Music Canada for sales and streaming equivalent to 160,000 units.
Praise Jah in the Moonlight was co-written by YG along with his mother, singer Lauryn Hill. His grandfather Bob Marley’s 1978 song Crisis, is sampled in the song.
The song took off on the social media platform TikTok and was an instant hit, making it to #34 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #5 in the United Kingdom.
It also topped the New Zealand Top 40 and Netherlands Top 100 charts, while making the top ten in Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Portugal, Ireland and Luxembourg.
Its previous certifications include gold in Sweden, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom, platinum in the United States and 2x platinum in Canada and New Zealand.
