Girvano prime for Division One glory in Hubert Bartley Memorial
Girvano, with jockey Robert Halledeen, will be aiming to deliver winning performances in Division One of the Hubert Bartley Memorial over seven furlongs at Caymanas Park today.
Girvano, who is conditioned by former champion trainer Philip Feanny, was bred in the United States and looks poised to justify strong favouritism. The improving colt caught the eye in his most recent finishing third in a sharp five and a half furlong dash behind the accomplished speedsters Unbelievable Force and Money Market.
Girvano’s late-running style should also prove decisive in the 10-horse field. His main dangers are Supremasi, Mr Senator, and
Flybluejet.
In Division Two, 10 horses are expected to contest the event, with Immeasurable Joy — from the barn of Anthony Nunes with jockey Wesley Henry in the saddle — highly favoured to win the event.
The vastly talented filly had a tough outing last time out, finishing last of 10 behind Rhythm Buzz. But that performance may be best overlooked, as she was contesting against open overnight-allowance company, a jump in class compared to what she will face today. Prince Amaan, with jockey Reyan Lewis, from the stables of champion trainer Jason daCosta; Huntsman, with champion jockey Raddesh Roman; and Teflon Don, with Robert Halledeen, from the barn of daCosta, are the main contenders in the event.
