Jodian Pantry releases In Your Name
Ever since she recommitted her life to Christ in 2019 there has been no turning back for gospel singer and Digicel Rising Stars alum Jodian Pantry.
The Clarendon-based singer describes her relationship with the Lord as deep-rooted.
“My relationship with the Lord right now is steady and stable. However, in order for me to grow more spiritually, and for my ministry to survive any apocalypse that comes at it, more time will have to be made to spend in His presence and less inconsistency with the Word. I really do fall off track from time to time where that is concern,” Pantry told the Jamaica Observer in a recent interview.
She said her mother’s Christian principles were what encouraged her to make the move into Christendom.
“My mother’s Christian life encouraged me to do the same. Today she is one of the most militant and true persons that I know in Christianity. I’ve learned from her and have pulled a lot from her. I wouldn’t need my life to be any other way, regardless of temptations out there,” said Pantry.
The artiste released her latest single, In Your Name, on June 21.
The song was produced by Paul “Patchy” Wright, formerly of Shocking Vibes Productions, and released under the I Praise Production label.
“The song In Your Name was inspired by Paul. He believed that I was the best messenger and carrier of this beautiful song which has a powerful message. This is not my first gospel song. My very first and biggest gospel song still remains to be I’ll Give My Heart, which I did in the JCDC [Jamaica Cultural Development Commission] Gospel Song competition in 2001. Those that followed include Walk by Faith, Big Dreams, and God Is Right There With Me,” Pantry shared.
She added: “The song is a few days old; however, the feedback through social media has been truly encouraging. The song is loved by a lot of people. According to one of my fans on social media, “Jodi, yuh find it!”
In Your Name will be included on Pantry’s forthcoming gospel album, scheduled for later this year. It will arrive 18 years after she finished second in the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2007.
“Wow, 18 years is a long stretch. Digicel Rising Stars gave me the opportunity to walk away with an experience that can’t be erased from my mind. That journey has helped to shape who I am on a stage today, and it also opened many doors of opportunities where I could showcase my talent. If it wasn’t for the competition I probably would have never gotten the chance to meet Percy Sledge, the international singing group ChiLites, Bob Andy, Marcia Griffiths, and even performing at a fashion event in Manhattan with Tyra Banks, among other opportunities,” Pantry reminisced.
Her upcoming performances include the Hi-Pro Denbigh Gospel Showcase on August 2 in Clarendon and the Sligoville Emancifest on July 31.
