Club World Cup quarter-finals: Chelsea, Bayern Munich favourites to win

Club World Cup quarter-finals: Chelsea, Bayern Munich favourites to win

Palmeiras and Chelsea will kick off the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals later today; tomorrow, Saturday, July 5, it’s the clash of the giants as PSG and Bayern Munich go head-to-head in another quarter-final.

Event # 1 – Club World Cup – Benfica vs Chelsea – 3:00 PM

Palmeiras and Chelsea will kick off the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals today when they go head to head at the Lincoln Financial Field in what would be a rematch of the 2021 final of this competition.Palmeiras began their Club World Cup campaign with a draw against Portoand has remained unbeaten with two wins and two draws. Indeed, the Brazilian side eliminated fellow Brazilian side Botafogo in the round of 16 and now aim to shock the Premier League giants and maintain their impressive run in this campaign. With that said, Palmeiras arrives at this quarterfinal showdown in excellent form, having lost just four of their last 35 matches in all competitions.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are also on an impressive run similar to their upcoming opponents, having lost just three of their last 18 overall matches. The Blues, Chelsea, have won three and lost one of their four games played so far at the tournament, scoring 10 goals and conceding four. Having won this season’s UEFA Europa Conference League title, Chelsea are aiming to add the Club World Cup to their trophy cabinet and will be confident of getting by the Brazilian outfit. That said, with the exit of Manchester City in the previous round, Chelsea are the Premier League’s only remaining side in the competition and are hoping to go all the way to lift the crown.

Event # Club World Cup – PSG vs Bayern Munich – 11:00 AM

The stage is set for a mouth-watering quarter-finals clash at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, as giants PSG and Bayern Munich go head-to-head in a European blockbuster clash tomorrow, Saturday, July 5. PSG were convincing when thrashing the Lionel Messi-led Inter Miami 4-0 in the round-of-16 tie, while Bayern Munich defeated Brazilian giants Flamengo 4-2 in an entertaining encounter, to book their spot in the quarter-finals. With that said, the reigning European champions, PSG, have been in excellent form for the entirety of the 2025 campaign and have maintained that form during this tournament. The French giants opened their campaign by impressively thumping Spanish giants Atletico Madrid 4-0 to signal their intention of winning this competition. They beat MLS side Seattle Sounders 1-0 and was ambushed and surprised 1-0 by Botafogo, but rebounded with a brutal beating of Inter Miami to set up this massive clash with Bayern Munich.

Similar to PSG, Bayern Munich have looked unbeatable at times in this competition, beating Auckland City 10-0 in their opening match, defeated Boca Juniors and lost one nil to Benfica, then prevailed in an exciting round-of-16 win over Flamengo to set up this tantalising showdown with the current European champions PSG. With that said, Bayern Munich will be confident of maintaining their recent dominance of the French side with a victory on Saturday – Bayern Munich defeated PSG 1-0 the last time they met in the Champions League competition and have won four of their last five head-to-head clashes with PSG, with the French side winning the other.This game promises to be a very intriguing and exciting as both teams boost similar form ahead of the game, with four wins and one draw each in their last five overall matches.
