JIBE DAZZLES at National Arena
For three unforgettable days, Kingston shimmered with style, grace and unapologetic glam as the 6th staging of the Jamaica International Beauty Expo (JIBE) unfolded at the National Arena from June 27 to 29. Making its Kingston debut, the highly anticipated event delivered a polished spectacle of elegance, empowerment and enterprise, leaving sponsors, exhibitors and beauty aficionados alike singing its praises.
The National Arena was transformed into a breathtaking space of colour, texture and light, showcasing the very best of local creativity. Draped fabrics, a comfy Ashley Furniture-decorated lounge and striking branded installations set the tone for an immersive experience that seamlessly blended inspiration with innovation.
The curtain rose on Friday with the ‘Business of Beauty’ preceding an elegant opening ceremony, setting the stage for a weekend of transformation — not just in beauty, but in mindset. Senator Audrey Marks, recently appointed minister without portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for efficiency, innovation and digital transformation, delivered the keynote address, emphasising the immense potential of the Caribbean’s beauty and wellness industry.
“Beauty is not just aesthetic,” she remarked, “it is a multi-billion-dollar engine of innovation, employment and cultural identity, and Jamaica must lead the charge.”
The moment was made even more special with a touching tribute to industry stalwart Anne Chang, CEO of Fontana Pharmacy, who was presented with the Icon Award for her contribution to the beauty and wellness industry.
