Gramps Morgan’s If You’re Looking for Me featured in Tyler Perry new film

KINGSTON, Jamaica — When the 13th film in the Madea franchise airs on Netflix on Friday, July 11, singer Gramps Morgan’s song If You’re Looking for Me will be among those featured in the production.

The film Madea’s Destination Wedding, which stars Cassi Davis, Perry and gospel singer Tamela Mann, is the sixth film by Perry to be released by Netflix.

Perry wrote, directed and produced the film, which was shot in part at his Atlanta studios and in the Dominican Republic.

In an interview with Observer Online on Thursday, Morgan explained how his song, which originally featured on his Positive Vibration album, ended up in the film.

“The song ended up in the movie through the efforts of the musical director from the movie, who reached out to my record company. I’m guessing he heard it somewhere in the islands and fell in love with the song and thought it would fit, but it is between Tyler, Perry’s company and my record label Halo Entertainment Group,” Morgan said.

If You’re Looking for Me, which has more than four million views on YouTube, was released in 2022 and is produced by Johnny Reid.

Morgan is quite ecstatic about the song’s inclusion in the film.

“Well, all I can say is that people love Caribbean music predominantly.  A song like this being in such a great movie series and a very talented TV and movie producer as Tyler Perry, means that they are listening to the sounds of Jamaica, and it shows me that good music will last an eternity. It is very encouraging, and it signifies that music will always be here, long after us,” said Morgan.
