Money Market’s moment to shine

THE $1.25-million, top-rated, Overnight Allowance contest over five furlongs (1,000m) straight takes centre stage at Caymanas Park this afternoon and all eyes are on
Money Market, a talented horse conditioned by Gary Subratie.

After four consecutive second-place finishes in five starts this season, Money Market is due for a winning run. The five-year-old bay horse has faced tough competition from Champion Bubbler, Unbelievable Force, Fearless Soul, and California Crown in his previous outings, but with his impressive record in straight races, connections are confident he will overcome these opponents.

Money Market has an impressive track record with seven top three finishes out of 10 starts in straight races, including three wins. With jockey Paul Francis now in the saddle, replacing apprentice Emelio McLean, Money Market is poised to make a strong showing. Francis will need to navigate the challenging five-furlong straight course but with Money Market’s speed and agility the duo might just be unbeatable.

However, Money Market won’t have it easy. His stablemate Sensational Move, along with Atlantic Convoy and Prince Amaan, will be looking to spoil the favourite’s chances. They will push Money Market to his limits, making for an exciting contest.

The three-year-old and upward event is positioned as the ninth and final race with a post time of 5:45 pm, but the first post is at 12:15 pm.

Sensational Move is riding a wave of momentum after two consecutive wins at the $1-million claiming level. While the competition might be different at this level,
Sensational Move’s speed and pace suggest that it could still put up a brave effort.

Atlantic Convoy, on the other hand, has been struggling to find his form recently, failing to hit the board in his last four starts. However, this Canadian-bred horse has talent and class so an improved run is expected. With the right trip and conditions Atlantic Convoy could surprise his opponents and challenge for a top spot.

Prince Amaan, since claimed by Jason DaCosta on May 10, has been impressive at this level, finishing second twice and third once in three starts. Notably, his two second-place finishes came over the straight course in good times. If Prince Amaan can get a clean break and a traffic-free trip he has the potential to challenge for top honours. With his speed and agility Prince Amaan could be a dark horse in this contest.
