KFC offering free buckets of chicken in US comeback campaign

LOUISVILLE, United States — KFC is attempting to reclaim top rankings in the United States (US) fast food industry with free chicken bucket giveaways as part of a “Kentucky Fried Comeback” push.

A press release revealed that the “Free Bucket on Us” campaign, announced Monday, will gift all KFC Rewards members a digital offer of an entire bucket of KFC’s original recipe chicken with any US$15 purchase made through the KFC app or website.

In what the brand describes as a “renewed obsessive pursuit of flavour” it is also calling for reviews on its food from customers, and rolling out a reintroduction of the traditional Colonel branding with a more serious look instead of the smile he used to sport.

“The Colonel would not be happy about our market share, and we’re serious about reminding America exactly who we are: the game changer with a relentless pursuit of the best fried chicken. We won’t smile until our customers do,” said President of KFC US, Catherine Tan-Gillespie.

KFC US said it is doubling down on what made it iconic, its freshly prepared original recipe chicken.

“We’re well aware of the latest fried chicken rankings, and I’m fired up to launch a bold Kentucky Fried Comeback and remind America exactly who we are. If people can give their ex a million second chances, I hope our fans can give us one,” said Tan-Gillespie
