Sagicor Life champions healthier workplaces nationwide

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Sagicor Life Jamaica has announced a sponsorship valued at $2.5 million in support of the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ 8×8 Corporate Wellness Challenge.

The investment includes $1.5 million in cash and $1 million worth of wellness screenings.

Running from July 2025 to March 2026, the Corporate Wellness Challenge is a flagship programme under the ministry’s Jamaica Moves campaign. With non-communicable diseases (NCDs) accounting for most deaths in Jamaica, the campaign encourages workplaces across the island to adopt wellness as a way of life.

Participating companies will engage in a variety of challenges designed to promote healthier lifestyles, including road races, nature hikes, office workout sessions, cooking competitions, and wellness quizzes. Activities are tied to a points-based system, with prizes and national recognition for the top-performing teams.

“Corporate wellness is one of the most powerful vehicles. We must shift national health outcomes, and at Sagicor Life, we believe wellness should be a built-in part of every workplace, not an afterthought. Through this partnership, we’re helping companies turn intention into action by providing the tools, screenings and support they need to truly prioritise employee health,” shared Stacy Goodin, wellness and client engagement manager at Sagicor Life Jamaica.

The baseline and follow-up health screenings sponsored by Sagicor will include blood sugar, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) checks. These screenings will be arranged privately with each participating company over the eight-month period and coordinated in partnership with the ministry.

As part of this initiative, Sagicor Life will also launch an internal wellness club with “ambassadors” who will lead the charge in building a healthier, more connected work environment. These ambassadors will keep their teams motivated, encourage consistent participation and serve as key touchpoints throughout the challenge.

“The wellness club is our way of empowering our own team members to lead wellness from within. We’re creating a ripple effect, one that we hope inspires other organisations to build cultures where healthy habits thrive and people feel supported in every part of their journey,” said Goodin.
