Peaceful but powerful
Dear Editor,
Jamaica goes to the polls September 3 and this election is about you.
Are you truly benefiting from the current progress, or is Jamaica becoming a place where only some thrive? True independence isn’t just about roads and buildings, it’s about empowering our people, our communities, our future.
The spirit of Marcus Garvey, the sacrifices of Paul Bogle and our ancestors at Morant Bay — they fought for a Jamaica where we controlled our own lives. Now your vote is that fight carried on. Will we build a nation where Jamaicans come first, or will we let outside interests dictate our fate? The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) offers a path of private sector growth, the People’s National Party (PNP) offers a vision of community empowerment. Which Jamaica do you want to live in?
Yes, foreign investment can bring jobs. But ask yourself: Who really benefits? Are we becoming dependent, selling off our future for short-term gains? Are we widening the gap between those who have and those who have not?
• JLP: The promise of private sector prosperity: Attracting foreign investment and building infrastructure are the priorities. But does that trickle down to you and your family?
• PNP: Investing in Jamaicans: Education, local businesses, community upliftment, and a self-sufficient economy. A Jamaica where everyone has a chance to succeed.
Young people, undecided voters, this is your moment to be heard. September 3 is not just another election, it’s a decision about your life, your community, your Jamaica. Don’t let others decide for you.
Honor our history. Claim your future. Choose the path that leads to a truly independent and prosperous Jamaica for all. Let’s make our voices heard with a peaceful and powerful vote.
