Konshens reflects on devastating loss of his brother Delus

KINGSTON, Jamaica—Dancehall artiste Konshens says his life was on pause for the last nine years dealing with the loss of his brother Delus, who passed away back in 2016.

“Just realising that you can’t just spend the rest of your time on earth wishing that you could get back what is already gone. You have to move forward. You will never forget. It will never be as it was. You’re still above ground. You still a breathe, you still have good people around you, and hopefully you still have a lovely family weh you responsible for. Life affi gwan,” he said during a recent interview on Sims Soul Sessions.

Konshens shared that while he was still doing music, he wasn’t living life intentionally.

“A regular person who is not necessarily a Konshens fan so deep wouldn’t sense any difference because me still a do music…This was 10 years ago; nine years ago, a backpack me still a carry. That was what ‘pause’ meant; my life wasn’t intentional, and me never a enjoy, Everything was just so negative to me; me just a put on the front. It was like a task to put on the front and not wanting to be here,” he said.

The Simple Blessings singer emphasised the importance of enjoying life and the moments that come with it.

“I won’t tell anybody not to be obsessed with work and not be a workaholic but make some time for work. Make some time for yourself, make some time for your family…What I would like to say to everyone, just listen, its not coming back, figure out how moving forward is going to work,” he urged.

Delus, whose real name is Delmark Spence, is suspected to have committed at his Havendale home.
