KINGSTON,  Jamaica — The Jamaica Boxing Association (JBA) has put together a loaded fight card for Saturday’s Wray & Nephew Fight Night, scheduled to start at 7:00 pm at the Cling Cling Oval in Olympic Gardens.

The JBA hosted a media briefing earlier this week at the Suga Olympic Gym, which is located at the same venue where several boxers on the card attended and talked up their chances of putting on a show on the way to winning their fight.

The association and the sponsor promised an overall great event with entertainment, good vibes punctuated with positive community spirit and a worthy display of local boxers who may be tested by two overseas competitors.

The 14-bout fight card of 11 amateur bouts and three pro bouts is headlined by promising pro fighter Juzier Heron, who will take on Robert Martinez of the Dominican Republic in a welterweight match-up.

Contender winner Police Campbell made a case for Kevin Bus Boy Hylton to face off in the ring in the first pro fight of the night in another welterweight match-up.

A late addition to the card is the bout between talented cruiserweight Jermaine Bowen of I-Fight Promotions and Jaden Mad Slug Eccleston of Cayman. That fight promises to be full of fireworks.

“Just look out fi a beaten manufactured September 27, Saturday night right here at Cling Cling Oval. Well, in the third round. The third or the fourth round for Martinez,” said a very confident Heron.

Police Campbell was fast on the draw, “you know, I’ve been preparing for this fight for about eight months now, and it finally manifest to me now to get in a fight. So, we’re going to showcase my talent coming the 27th, which is Saturday night. It’s going to be excitement, Police Campbell back in the building.”

Kevin “Bus Boy” Hylton did not back down. He said: “Well talk is cheap you know. To be honest talk is cheap and me as a man mi nuh too love fi talk, action mi love deal with and when people talk over me, me get fi conquer them more, cause the almighty said that. You see me?”

“Jamaica has a love affair with boxing. What I like, are the boxers actually acting as ambassadors throughout their not just sport, but their communities. And so that’s what pushes us. So that’s why we want to come into the heart of the communities. That’s why we’re having the launch here at Olympic Gardens, and I expect on Saturday that we’re going to have the turnout that they deserve and that the sport deserves and that the boxers deserve,” said Stephen Bomber Jones, president of the JBA.

Kerry Ann Bryan of Wray & Nephew promised a good show on Fight Night. “So when we launched this series, the vision was simple. It was to reignite the love for boxing in Jamaica by creating a platform where talent, passion and resilience could shine through. So today, we are seeing a vision come to life where fight nights is more than just a sporting event. It’s about community, as you can see, we’re here in Olympic Gardens. It’s about opportunity. It’s about celebrating the fighting spirit that Jamaicans are known for. So this weekend, this Saturday, fans can look forward to an action-packed fight card featuring both professional and amateur fights.
