PNP appoints Shameel Brown as chair of OT Fairclough Trust Fund

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People’s National Party (PNP) has announced the appointment of Shameel Brown as the new chair of the OT Fairclough Trust Fund Grants Board.

Brown succeeds outgoing chair, Member of Parliament Richard Azan, who the party says has “dutifully served the board” in advancing its mandate of providing opportunities for party workers.

Brown, described as a results-oriented professional, currently serves as chair of the PNP Welfare Commission and vice president of the PNP Youth Organisation.

She holds a bachelor of science in sociology and social policy from the University of the West Indies and is pursuing a master’s degree in international public and development management at the institution.

According to the PNP, Brown brings to the role her passion for mentorship, youth outreach, and national development.

The OT Fairclough Trust Fund recently completed its 2025 scholarship distribution exercise, which provided financial support to dozens of students across Jamaica.

The board is comprised of representatives from the PNP’s six regions, as well as arms and affiliates of the party, including the PNP Youth Organisation, the Patriots, the PNP Women’s Movement, the National Workers Union, and the Councillor Caucus.

  •    Region 1 – Karen Hinds Spencer
  •    Region 2 – Saneika Kelly
  •    Region 3 – Karl Kirkland
  •    Region 4 – Patricia Harris
  •    Region 5 – Verna Manning
  •    Region 6 – Colin Hitchman
  •    PNPYO – Sheina-Gay Richards
  •    The Patriots – Rev Dr Paul Blake
  •    PNP Women’s Movement – Tiara Murray
  •    National Workers Union – Granville Valentine
  •    Councillor Caucus – Keisha Lewis

The party expressed gratitude to Azan for his leadership and said it looks forward to what it described as “a new era of growth” under Brown’s guidance.
