Cristiano Ronaldo becomes first billionaire footballer
Cristiano Ronaldo has attained billionaire status, officially making him the first footballer to earn the title.
Bloomberg Billionaire Index, which tracks the net worth of the world’s richest people, measured the Al-Nassr striker’s net worth for the first time, taking into account career earnings, investments and endorsements.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Renaldo’s net worth is US$1.4 billion (£1.04 billion).
He has earned more than US$550 million (£410 million) in salary between 2002 and 2023. The breakdown included earnings through deals and sponsorship, including a decade-long deal with Nike worth almost US$18 million (£13.4 million) a year.
According to BBC Sport, when Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League back in 2022, his annual salary was more than US$237 million (£177 million). His contract ended in June 2025, where he then signed a new two-year deal reportedly worth more than US$400 million (£298 million).
