International reggae icon Capleton has been mourning the passing of his beloved brother, Rohan Bailey, affectionately known as “Garry”, who transitioned over a week ago after courageously battling an illness for several months.

The “Fireman” marked his brother’s passing with a nine-night service held at Capleton’s Corporate Area home earlier this week.

“The man was genuine…when me say genuine, Garry will do anything for anybody, and him don’t have to know you, and him nah do it for money, clout or validation, dem man deh just different. If you ask dem man deh fi do something, you nuh haffi ask if it ah go get done, you don’t have to think twice. He was a real real youth, one of the realest ever,” Capleton said.

“Some of my bredrin dem bawl like ah him and dem a bredda, and dem come outta the same womb, the man dem all bawl more than me, to show you how genuine the man is. Garry and no man no have no problem, he is one of the humblest youths.”

In the midst of this great personal loss, Capleton is channelling his energy into his upcoming performances, using music as both a source of healing and a way to honour his brother’s enduring spirit.

“Garry was known for his hard work and willingness to lend a helping hand. A devoted father, incredible uncle and loyal friend, he brought laughter wherever he went. His passing leaves an immeasurable void and his memory will live on through the lives he touched,” said Suzanne Bennett, Capleton’s manager and partner.

Despite the heartbreak, Capleton remains committed to his scheduled performances, viewing the stage as a place of strength and spiritual renewal.

Some of his upcoming performances include a show in Costa Rica on October 17, 2025 and the Seafood Festival on Sharkies Beach on October 20th. Other events include a show at Jack Sprat, Treasure Beach in St Elizabeth on November 8th, and Legends Are Forever, Summerfield, Clarendon on November 29th.

Fans and well-wishers are encouraged to keep Capleton and his family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, the Bailey family said in a statement.
