Labour Ministry invites jobseekers to attend job fair in Portmore

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) is inviting jobseekers in Portmore and its environs to participate in its upcoming St Catherine Job Fair, scheduled for Wednesday, October 29.

The event will take place at Celebration Church, located at 1 Portmore Mall, Portmore, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

This initiative forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to promoting opportunity, stability, and social protection for all Jamaicans.

The job fair will feature a wide range of employment opportunities across several sectors, including hospitality, security, finance and customer service.

Available positions include customer service representatives, baristas, chefs, security guards, accounting clerks, business technical analysts, shift supervisors, and restaurant managers.

Several prominent companies will be in attendance, including Fontana Pharmacy, Hawkeye, Centerfield Star Bucks Convenient Brands Limited, which includes Dominos and Circle K; SWAT Elite, Guardsman, Optimum, Wendy’s, KFC, Restaurants Associates Limited, which includes Burger King, Popeyes and Little Caesars; and Honey Bun, among others.

Director of the Electronic Labour Exchange (ELE), Lyndon Ford, is encouraging all jobseekers to research the companies of interest ahead of the event to better align themselves with potential employers.

He is also imploring participants to dress professionally and come with a winning attitude on the day, emphasising that preparation and presentation often make the difference in securing employment.

Interested individuals are encouraged to register online at lmis.gov.jm, upload their résumé, and attend the event. Walk-ins will also be accepted. Participants are reminded to bring the necessary documents, including proof of qualification, résumé, National Insurance Scheme (NIS) card, Tax Registration Number (TRN) card, and two passport-sized photographs.

For further information, persons may contact the Ministry at customerservice@mlss.gov.jm or visit mlss.gov.jm/events to view additional job fairs and vacancies.

The Ministry continues to work strategically to connect Jamaicans with meaningful employment opportunities and urges all eligible individuals to take advantage of this initiative.
