Courts islandwide close early due to Tropical Storm Melissa

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Courts across the island closed at 3:00 pm on Wednesday as the country braces for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Melissa this weekend.

The Court Administration Division (CAD), in a media statement, said the closure is to allow staff to make personal preparations and also to prepare the courts for the storm.

It noted that matters listed for Thursday, October 23, will be adjourned and future dates assigned to them, and the parties informed of the same.

Likewise, future dates for cases listed for Friday, October 24, will be identified and communicated to all stakeholders.

The CAD will provide an update at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22.
