Bolt’s manager helps to clear road, assesses hurricane damage in legend’s hometown
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – Trelawny native Nugent Walker, executive manager for Usain Bolt, along with several other residents worked recently to clear the Martha Brae to Sherwood Content road in the parish following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
Nugent took the initiative while in the area assessing damage to the community where he and the sprint legend grew up, as part of a wider appraisal of the destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa in the north western corridor.
Hurricane Melissa, which made landfall as a ferocious Category 5 storm last Tuesday, devastated western Jamaica parishes including Trelawny.
Bolt, who was off the island on a personal engagement, is expected to return in a few days.
Residents of Perth Town, Reserve and Sherwood Content currently have access to their communities through an alternate route along Duncan’s, Clark’s Town and Duanvale, which turns a 10 minute commute into an almost two-hour drive.
