Formalist shines in debut victory
Formalist, a three-year-old chestnut colt, made a promising start to his career, securing a convincing win in the $1.05-million Maiden Condition Race at Caymanas Park on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Trained by Jason DaCosta and ridden by Robert Halledeen, Formalist led from start to finish, crossing the line 6 ¼ lengths clear of his rivals. The son of Bold Conquest and Miss Formality covered the 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight in impressive style, clocking 1:00.0 (24.2 x 47.1).
Formalist got a flyer at the start, leading the pack of Rebel (Chalrick Budhai), Boasey Girl (Garvin Harris), and Nebuchadnezzar (Tajay Suckoo). He paced himself early, staying with the field before making his move crossing the dummy rails.
The chestnut colt then kicked clear, sprinting away from the competition to score an easy win. Nebuchadnezzar and Feeling Free (Jereau Stewart) had to settle for second and third, respectively, as
Formalist romped home.
