KINGSTON, Jamaica — In a demonstration of continued commitment to community renewal and capacity building, professional services firm KPMG in Jamaica has donated 40 laptops to Project STAR to support the implementation of the initiative’s community-based programmes across the island.

The donation, which will be distributed in two phases of 20 laptops each over two years, was formally handed over recently, at KPMG’s Duke Street offices in Kingston.

The laptops will be used by Project STAR team members to strengthen the delivery of interventions in five communities – Rose Gardens, Parade Gardens, May Pen, Savanna-la-Mar and Salt Spring.

Raymond Campbell, office manager partner at KPMG in Jamaica and country leader for KPMG in Caricom, said that the contribution marks another milestone in KPMG’s ongoing partnership with Project STAR, reflecting the firm’s belief in empowering organisations that are driving social and economic transformation.

He said the donation underscores KPMG’s shared vision with Project STAR to create safer, stronger, and more resilient communities.

“KPMG firmly believes that access to technology is fundamentally access to opportunity. And what we’re doing today, with the handover of these laptops, is so much more than just distributing devices. It’s about igniting potential, unlocking crucial skills, building confidence, and creating clear pathways to meaningful work for young people and families who need it most,” said Campbell.

The laptops will bolster Project STAR’s operational efficiency, enable smoother coordination, reporting, and project management, while freeing up other resources for direct community interventions.

Campbell added, “KPMG is dedicated to continuing our collaboration with Project STAR, with further laptop donations planned for the next financial year, ensuring this impact continues to grow.”

Chair of Project STAR’s Management, Monitoring and Reporting Committee, Ian Neita, expressed gratitude for the contribution, noting that such partnerships are critical to sustaining the project’s impact.

“We deeply appreciate KPMG’s continued support and belief in our mission. These laptops will directly strengthen our ability to deliver results in the communities where we work and support our members of staff and volunteers as they work daily to implement solutions that improve lives and foster transformation,” said Neita.

He said that the partnership with KPMG demonstrates how corporate support can enhance the sustainability and reach of Project STAR’s work, ensuring that more Jamaicans benefit from initiatives designed to build safer and more inclusive communities.

Project STAR, an initiative of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) in collaboration with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), focuses on reducing crime and violence through social and economic transformation in targeted communities across the country.
