Toll collection for May Pen to Williamsfield highway delayed

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Toll collection on the new Phase 1C segment of the PJ Patterson Highway from May Pen to Williamsfield, which was scheduled to commence on December 1, 2025, has been delayed.

In a notice issued recently, the operators said a new start date will be provided once all operational details have been finalised.

“We will announce the new date as soon as all details are confirmed. Thank you for your patience,” the post read.

Despite the delay, teams are intensifying preparations ahead of the upcoming transition.

According to the notice, heavy pre-operational activities are currently underway at the toll plazas along the corridor to ensure systems are fully ready when management of the highway officially begins.

Motorists travelling through the area are being urged to exercise caution. Drivers are advised to reduce their speed, adhere to posted limits and approach toll plazas at 50 km/h or less to maintain safety during the ongoing works.

The May Pen to Williamsfield leg is expected to significantly improve travel time across central Jamaica once operations commence. A new launch date is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
