Impressive debut run by Of a Revolution
...Nunes’ American-bred chestnut horse blows away competition in Bruceontheloose Trophy
In an impressive debut run, six-year-old American-bred chestnut horse Of A Revolution stormed to victory in the US$100,000 ($15 million) Bruceontheloose Trophy on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
But for trainer Anthony Nunes, the path was strewn with tempests — literal and figurative.
“The day before the hurricane [Melissa], the race track was wet,” Nunes recounted.
“We had a lot of period rain leading up to the hurricane and Of A Revolution cantered one morning and came back with a stone bruise. He actually missed five days of training doing nothing because we were going to take the shoe off. I expected him to get a little tired in the end race, and he did.
“My farrier [Peter Dixon] did a fantastic job with him, and we got him back out there. His preparation was a little more rushed, it wasn’t as smooth as we wanted, but I think his class and a beautiful ride by Raddesh [Roman] got the job done,” Nunes told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
Of A Revolution (MacLean’s Music out of Hot Spell) easily won the Graded Stakes contest for three-year-olds and upward over 6 ½ furlongs (1,300m) by 2 ¼ lengths. The speedster won in a time of 1:19.2.
Of A Revolution broke off well at the start of the race and quickly settled into third place behind
Desert of Malibu (Dane Nelson) and Florindia (Paul Francis) down the backstretch. He maintained a steady gallop until Roman let the notch loose a bit and the chestnut horse went in chase of Desert of Malibu navigating the half-mile turn.
With the momentum going his way, Of A Revolution joined Desert of Malibu entering the lane for a brief battle before pulling away to open his local account. Money Market (Dane Dawkins) ran on to finish second ahead of Desert of Malibu.
“It was a really good performance, but you could see him getting tired in the last half furlong, but he got the job done. He is a really nice horse and I think he is going get better now that he has gotten the run under him out here,” Nunes said.
