St Mary customers should have light for Christmas, says JPS
ST MARY, Jamaica — Jamaica Public Service Company Limited’s (JPS) Parish Manager for Portland and St Mary, Le-var Allen, says electricity has been restored to 99 per cent of customers in St Mary and the rest should join them by Christmas.
Allen was giving a post-Hurricane Melissa update during Thursday’s monthly meeting of the St Mary Municipal Corporation.
“We are almost there in a short space of time, and we should be fully restored [shortly],” Allen said.
While commending the JPS team for its work in ensuring the parish has electricity for the Yuletide, Mayor of Port Maria Fitzroy Wilson questioned whether the utility company also has plans to install new street lights in areas that badly need them, such as the road that leads to the Port Maria Hospital and infirmary.
Allen then advised that such matters should be sent to him and he would do the necessary checks.
