RADA to host livestock clinic in Westmoreland on Friday
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) will host a livestock clinic at the Westmoreland Parish Office in Llandilo, on Friday, December 19, beginning at 10:00 am.
In an interview with JIS News, RADA Livestock Specialist, Maxine Brown, said key partners will be on location to provide free animal health services.
“You can bring your animals to benefit from professional veterinary care, receive practical advice and on-the-spot support aimed at improving animal health and productivity,” Brown said.
“If you cannot bring your animals, the veterinarians can listen to your issues and provide you with any medication you may need. All livestock farmers in Westmoreland and surrounding areas make sure to come out and benefit from all the support from the experts,” she continued.
Following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, a several livestock clinics have been held in affected parishes, to provide support and technical expertise.
All livestock owners are invited to attend.
“The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) will also give you some more information on how to protect yourself against leptospirosis. RADA remains committed to supporting you, the farmers, through accessible services that strengthen the livestock sector and safeguard animal health,” Brown said.
Representatives from the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Baruch Distributors and the Jamaica Veterinary Medical Association will also be present.
