Spice kicks off 2026 with gospel single

GRAMMY-nominated dancehall icon Spice kicks off the new year with a soul-touching new chapter in her musical journey with the release of her gospel single with visuals, God Don’t Play About Me.

Debuting on Friday, January 9, 2026, the new track showcases Spice’s evolution and creativity as an artiste, highlighting one of the most spiritually charged moments of her life and her career.

Written by Spice, God Don’t Play About Me is said to be an uplifting, faith-driven anthem inspired by her real-life testimony of overcoming her fatal, near-death experience.

After nearly losing her life in 2022, Spice experienced a spiritual awakening that transformed how she sees God, herself, and her purpose. The lyrics on the track express an impactful message — a direct message to God from Spice herself, giving Him praise and thanks for a second chance at life.

The song blends Spice’s Caribbean influence with an upbeat gospel fusion, serving as a triumphant celebration to the battles she has faced and overcome with God by her side.

In the song, Spice addresses the voices that doubted her, and the storms meant to break her, all while boldly affirming that it was God’s grace and favour that carried her through it all.

Shot in Atlanta, and directed by D Baines of PalmTree Picture, in conjunction with SteadyCam operation, Ray Ray Films, Mike Dank, and Gaffer Rakeem Bland, God Don’t Play About Me is brought to life through rich storytelling. The video showcases an old-school Sunday sermon mixed with today’s cultural fashion, along with an intimate audio conversation between Spice and her beloved mother, reflecting on returning to church.

Spice is portrayed in moments of solitude, strength, and surrender while embodying multiple roles ranging from devoted congregant to preacher and organ player.

Included are cameos including Rasheeda & Kirk Frost, Sierra Glam Shop, Xzavia Thomas, Shekinah Jo, Jessie Woo, Spice’s children Nicholas and Nicholatoy, her mother Angela, and Pastor Little.

“I want people to feel encouraged listening to this song and video, and be reminded that God is real and intentional in their lives,” says Spice. “If you’ve ever survived something that only God could carry you through, this song is for you.”

God Don’t Play About Me is distributed through Spice’s independent record label, Spice Official Entertainment.
