Antigua PM attending World Governments Summit

ST JOHN’S, Antigua (CMC) — Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, says the three-day World Governments Summit (WGS) 2026 opening in Dubai on Tuesday provides an invaluable platform for small states like his to influence global policy conversations, attract strategic investment and share practical solutions rooted in resilience, innovation and sustainable development.

The annual summit brings together heads of state and government, senior public officials, global chief executive officers as well as leaders of international organisations to engage in high-level dialogue on governance, innovation and sustainable development.

Browne will participate in a series of high-level panel discussions and strategic engagements, with a focus on tourism driven development, investment, creativity, and sustainability, areas in which Antigua and Barbuda continues to be recognised as a global leader among small island developing states .

A government statement said that as part of the programme, Browne is expected to attend the main summit sessions, engage in bilateral meetings and participate in the Future of Tourism Roundtable, where he will share Antigua and Barbuda’s experience in positioning tourism as a cornerstone of economic opportunity while advancing resilience-focused planning and sustainability initiatives.

“Our participation allows us not only to learn from global best practices, but also to demonstrate how Antigua and Barbuda has successfully leveraged tourism, infrastructure development and strategic partnerships to drive inclusive growth,” Prime Minister Browne said.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Browne will have bilateral discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Zimbabwe, Professor Dr Amon Murwira, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and Zimbabwe’s request for support to become a member of the Security Council of the United Nations 2027-2028.
