Dujuan Richards joins Leicester City on loan – agent
Jamaican football prodigy Dujuan “Whisper” Richards has completed a loan move from English Premier League club Chelsea FC to second tier team Leicester City, according to his agent Craig Butler who said it was an important move for the player.
The 20-year-old Richards has been at Chelsea since 2024 but has been unable to break into the star-studded senior team.
“It’s important that we, as managers, don’t just transfer players and forget about them. It’s important that we continue to ensure that they get the opportunities that they need and the treatment that they need,” said Butler, the founder of Phoenix Academy.
“He’s going now to Leicester City to ensure that he gets the proper playing time and the development that he needs,” he added of the transfer deadline day deal.
Leicester City are sitting in 16th spot in the English Football League Championship, having won 10 of their 30 games, drawn eight and lost 12 times.
“It’s very important that at this age, you’re not playing Under 21 football when you have the potential to be a superstar. He has that potential, so we work hard to ensure that it gets done,” Butler pointed out.
He continued: “And thanks also Chelsea for working with us to ensure and not resisting and helping us to ensure that he gets the playing time rather than staying with the under 21s. He will be playing first team and they need a player like ‘Whisper’ that can do the damage that he can do and playing big man football will show everybody the quality of this player”.
The talented Richards was signed straight out of the ISSA Schoolboy Manning Cup following an outstanding season for Kingston College, where he scored over 30 goals.
He has two goals for Jamaica’s senior Reggae Boyz, with his second goal against Bermuda in a World Cup Qualifier being nominated for National Awards under the category of People’s Choice Performance of the Year.
