Security guard robbed on Harbour Street

KINGSTON, Jamaica—A 25-year-old female security guard was robbed of her cellular phone, cash and other personal items in the vicinity of GraceKennedy on Harbour Street in downtown Kingston on Thursday.

The company has since confirmed the incident in a statement.

No injuries were reported and GraceKennedy said all team members and contractors are safe.

“The safety and well-being of our team remain our highest priority, and we are providing the necessary support to the individual who was present at the time the robbery occurred,” the company said.

Reports are that about 9:25 am, the security guard was at work guarding the entrance of the GraceKennedy parking lot when a man rode up on a motorcycle, walked into the parking lot and demanded her cellular phone.

An argument reportedly developed and the man pulled a firearm from his waistband and pointed it at the security guard.

She reportedly handed over her cellular phone and her knapsack bag containing several of her bank cards.

The man reportedly then escaped on the motorcycle.

The Kingston Central Criminal Investigation Branch is conducting investigations into the matter.
