Granville’s Gothic Musik making inroads in Panama
Shortly after completing an interview on Panamanian radio last October, Gothic Musik heard one of his songs on the airwaves for the first time. It spurred an emotional reaction.
“It brought mi to tears! When mi hear di song a play, mi sey, ‘yow, listen to mi song’. It was a great feeling,” he told Observer Online.
Braff, which Gothic Musik did with Panamanian artiste Don Pablo Mures, is the song that earned him radio attention in a country where he has made inroads in recent months.
Rodando En La City, a collaboration with Don Pablo Mures and other reggaeton acts like Valentino GRM, El Derk and El Yeyo PP, has also won him fans in the Central American country. Both are produced by Empress Ann Recordz, an American company.
“Di last five months have been good, wi focusing on Panama. So wi do a media tour there and then perform at Panama Carnival in February which was nice,” said Gothic Musik.
From Granville in Montego Bay, he has been recording music for 10 years. His fortunes got a boost two years ago when he linked with Empress Ann Recordz which has positioned his songs in Panama. That country is one of the biggest markets for reggaeton, the hybrid of dancehall and Spanish music that is the rage in Latin America.
Athlete, Gothic Musik’s latest song, is also produced by Empress Ann Recordz.
