KINGSTON, Jamaica—Jamaica’s national senior women’s football team, the ‘Reggae Girlz’, are continuing to build cohesion and sharpen their execution as they progress through the CONCACAF leg of the 2025/26 FIFA World Cup W qualifiers.

Speaking during a press conference on April 10, following their dominant 4-0 victory over Antigua and Barbuda at the National Stadium, team captain, Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, emphasised that the squad’s focus is on delivering a structured performance while addressing areas of concern from their previous outing.

She explained that her responsibility remains centred on leading the line and capitalising on scoring opportunities, adding “I try my best to help the team in whatever way.”

Shaw underscored the team’s broader mission of reconnecting with supporters and building momentum as they look ahead to future competitions.

“We wanted to bring back joy. We were just trying our best to do our job and to bring back smiles on the faces of Jamaicans. We appreciate everyone for coming [to the game against Antigua and Barbuda]… and I can guarantee that the next game will be much better,” she added.

Head Coach, Hubert Busby, praised the squad’s determination and attacking intent during the match, noting that while the team created numerous scoring opportunities, sharpening their finishing remains a key focus.

He added that tactical adjustments, such as improved attacking movement and timely substitutions, helped the team sustain pressure and control the tempo throughout the game.

“We want to be able to take the game to [our opponents]. That shape allows for us to be on the front foot and get the best out of the players that we have,” Busby stated.

Midfielder, Atlanta Primus, shared similar sentiments, welcoming the chance to perform in front of the home crowd. “It’s nice to be back home and bring them some joy. We go again next week,” Primus added.

The Reggae Girlz will now turn their attention to their next assignment as they continue their qualifying campaign.

Jamaica will face Guyana in their FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday, April 18, at 7:00 pm at the National Stadium as they advance their push towards the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

Looking ahead, Shaw emphasised that the team continues to evolve, particularly through the integration of new players into the squad.

“It’s about building strong relationships with my teammates. The more we train and come together as a group, the more likely the desired results will follow. It’s a building process,” she said.
