Man wanted for murder killed in Harbour View police confrontation

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man wanted in connection with several murders, shootings and robberies across the St Mary and St Ann divisions was shot and killed during a confrontation with police in Bayshore Park, behind the Harbour View Mini Stadium in St Andrew on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Samtone Flynch, also known as “Jakes” and “Sparta Darkness”, an unemployed resident of Church Street, Baileys Vale, St Mary.

Police reported that Flynch had previous charges including buggery, rape and other sexual offences, and had also been convicted for lottery scamming.

According to authorities, an intelligence-led operation was conducted in the Bayshore Park community to apprehend Flynch, who was a person of interest in the murder of Arlene Callum in Ocho Rios, St Ann back in August 26, 2025.

Acting under a search warrant, police attempted to breach the premises when Flynch allegedly pointed a firearm at the lawmen. The police then reportedly opened fire. Flynch was struck and subsequently transported to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A firearm was recovered from the scene, the police said.

Authorities also confirmed that Flynch was a person of interest in the 2014 murder of Elizabeth Lindo in Brimmer Hall, Baileys Vale, St Mary.

The police further alleged that he had ties to the Bayshore Park Gang and had been using the area as a hideout.
