Frazsiers Whip, Arnett close in on semi-final spots in JWPL

Defending champions Frazsiers Whip and Zone A leaders Arnett Gardens moved to within a point of securing semi-final spots in the Jamaica Women’s Premier League after big wins on Saturday.

Jennifer Williams and Nevillegail Able both scored braces as Frazsiers Whip FC ended Federal United FC’s three-game winning run with a 6-0 thrashing, while Arnett Gardens FC beat UWI Women’s FC 5-0.

Also on Saturday, Cavalier SC beat WiFi United FC 2-0, Los Perfectos FC beat Mile Gully FC by the same scoreline, and Real MoBay AFC secured their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Springers United FC.

At Excelsior High, Frazsiers Whip led 2-0 at half-time with goals from Shennel Walters in the 13th minute and Williams in the 35th.

Shanel Spence added a third in the 46th minute before Able scored in the 53rd. Williams completed her brace in the 88th minute and Able added her second two minutes later.

Five different players were on the scoresheet for Arnett Gardens, who led 3-0 at half-time through Abigail Mullings (18th), Shikira Douglas (21st), and Suen Gregory (42nd).

Shanice Stewart made it 4-0 in the 56th minute and Tuanashae Hamilton added the fifth in the 88th minute.

Cavalier, last year’s finalists, beat WiFi United for the second time this season courtesy of a penalty from Stephanie Morgan in the 10th minute and an own goal in the 52nd.

Los Perfectos also beat Mile Gully for the second time this season with goals from Trishelle Cassanova in the eighth minute and Venicia Reid in the 28th.

Real MoBay AFC won for the first time this season, avenging a 3-0 first-round loss to Springers United in the St James derby at Irwin High.

Kimberly Petgrave opened the scoring in the fifth minute and Britney Gregory sealed the win with a strike in the 82nd.

Saturday’s results

Arnett Gardens 5, UWI Women’s FC 0

WiFi United 0, Cavalier SC 2

Los Perfectos FC 2, Mile Gully FC 0

Frazsiers Whip FC 6, Federal United FC 0

Springers United FC 0, Real MoBay AFC 2
