The Reggae Girlz will face Costa Rica in the quarter-finals of the Concacaf Women’s Championship on November 27, with the winner qualifying for the 2027 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by Brazil.

The draw was made Tuesday based on the seedings, with Jamaica ranked fourth in Concacaf paired with the fifth-ranked Costa Rica at the Texas Health Mansfield Stadium in Mansfield, Texas.

The Concacaf W Championship will comprise four quarter-final matches and the four quarter-final winners will qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Top-seeded United States will face El Salvador, the eighth seed; second-seeded Canada take on Panama, the seventh seed; third-ranked Mexico play sixth-ranked Haiti, with the four winners advancing to the semi-final of the Championship and by extension the World Cup.

If the United States beat El Salvador and Jamaica beat Costa Rica, then Jamaica will also secure automatic qualification to the 2028 Olympic Games, which will be staged in Los Angeles, California in the United States.

However, all is not lost if the Reggae Girlz lose against Costa Rica, as the four quarter-final losers will compete in two play-in matches to determine the two Concacaf Representatives in the FIFA Intercontinental Playoffs set for February 2027.

The Reggae Girlz won bronze medals in the last two editions of the Concacaf W Championship, in 2018 and 2022, and will be hunting their third consecutive appearance at the FIFA World Cup, having first historically qualified in 2019.
