Reggae enthusiasts unable to travel to Barbados for the upcoming Barbados Reggae Weekend will still be able to take part in the magic as the event is set to introduce global pay-per-view streaming.

Organisers say the stream, which costs only US$100 for all three shows, will allow audiences across the Caribbean, United States, Canada, Africa and beyond to experience segments of the three-day festival live from Kensington Oval, Barbados.

Scheduled for Friday, April 24 to Sunday, April 26, the initiative marks a major milestone for the event in its third year, allowing it to evolve from a regional music festival into a globally accessible entertainment experience.

Sponsorship Manager Michelle Straughn confirmed that the pay-per-view offer is already generating strong international interest.

“The response has been great. This is a significant step forward for the festival, our local talent and Barbados as a destination. Beyond elevating the Barbados Reggae Weekend profile, it provides exposure and new opportunities for more than 10 local acts set to perform this weekend, while strengthening Barbados’ position as a hub for world-class music events,” she said.

She noted that international media coverage is also expanding with the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI) facilitating participation from media teams from the United States and across the Caribbean this year, further amplifying global visibility for both the festival and the island.

“The growth of the Barbados Reggae Weekend has been remarkable. We are seeing strong interest not only from regional and international media and virtual viewers, but also from global patrons eager to attend our premium event.

“Early ticket sales indicate that persons are travelling to Barbados from as far as Germany, Ireland, Africa, North America and from our neighbouring Caribbean islands, for all three shows. This reinforces the impact on tourism and the wider economy,” Straughn said.

Sunday, April 26: The Hennessy Reggae in the Gardens Powered by Hott 95.3 FM — Dexta Daps, D’Yani, Fantasia, Kranium, Admiral Tibet and local favourites Spice and Company, DJ Puffy and Rite Side of Red featuring Buggy Nhakente and Rhesa Garnes — US$35
