Queen Kamarla shares her life story in her memoir, ‘The Story of My Life Journey’
Recording artiste Queen Kamarla has faced some rough patches in her life. Aside from not completing high school, she became a mother during her teenage years.
She expands her musical storytelling with the release of her memoir, The Story of My Life Journey, Sharing a Powerful Story of Resilience, a candid account of perseverance, purpose and personal transformation.
In the book, Queen Kamarla reflects on the realities behind her journey—balancing caregiving responsibilities, navigating a demanding daily commute and staying committed to her craft through uncertainty and sacrifice. Her message is clear: resilience is built one decision at a time.
“People see the music, but they don’t always see the struggle behind it. This book is my truth—my journey, my sacrifices and my growth,” Queen Kamarla told Observer Online recently.
Known for her disciplined work ethic and message-driven approach, Queen Kamarla continues to build momentum in the reggae and dancehall space, drawing directly from lived experience to shaping her sound and storytelling.
Along with the memoir, Queen Kamarla is preparing to release her debut album, Respect Me, later this month. The self-executive-produced project features collaborations with I-Octane, Ginjah, Mikey General, Natty King, and Jigsy King, and it blends roots reggae foundations with modern dancehall influences.
She has released songs including Hot Spot and Protected. Her most recent release New Beginnings, featuring reggae artiste Ginjah, was released last month.
Ten years ago, Queen Kamarla promoted the Stop the Crime & Violence concert series, which aimed to promote peace and unity in volatile communities. Some of the communities that she took the concert series to included August Town, Olympic Gardens, Seaview Gardens, Rockfort and Tivoli Gardens.
With her memoir now available and new music on the way, Queen Kamarla continues to emerge as a compelling voice in reggae and dancehall—grounded in authenticity, perseverance and purpose.
“I’m not stopping. I know where I’m going, and I’m working every day to get there,” she shared.
The Story of My Life Journey is a memoir that documents Queen Kamarla’s personal and professional path, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the discipline, sacrifice and resilience that shaped her journey. It is available through major digital and retail platforms, including Amazon, Apple Books and Barnes & Noble.
