Squash’s protoje Cartadon pushes on after multiple gunshots in drive-by
KINGSTON, Jamaica—Few people can say that they have escaped death. However, emerging artiste Cartadon, not only predicted his near-death experience, but he was actually assumed dead before being revived at hospital.
The deejay says he was the victim of a drive-by shooting in the Mountain View area. The deejay, who is the protoje of dancehall star Squash, outlines that he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, but what makes the story even more chilling is the fact that he released a song the day before he was shot, which spoke about him being protected, which included lyrics which predicted that he would be shot but would live to tell the tale.
“It was like an action movie mixed with a horror movie. Five of us were standing at the location at the time of the incident, two of whom died as a result of gunshot wounds. I was shot three times and brought to the hospital, assuming I was dead, but the doctor never gave up on me, and here I am, thanks to God. It makes me paranoid, though. Imagine this: I released a song name Protected on Friday, and I got shot up the Saturday, and in the song, it was singing that I am going to be shot but I am protected by the most high. I didn’t know it would actually happen. It’s like I speak it into being, ” Cartadon stated.
The Kingston native says music has always been his place of solace as he grew up in the gritty streets of inner-city Kingston. According to the deejay, his musical goals never allowed him to get distracted by the negativity that was happening around him.
” A music from day one and a still music to this day and it will be music until my last day. I am very happy with the direction my career is going because I have a solid team and crazy songs to drop” Cartadon stated.
Currently, Cartadon is busy in the studio working on a plethora of new music. He is working closely with international producer Boston Boys Records. He is currently promoting his new single entitled Kode.
