Treasure Beach swap relegation spot with Harbour View after upsetting Waterhouse
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Treasure Beach dragged themselves out of the relegation zone, even for one round, after upsetting Waterhouse FC 2-1 at Drewsland in their third round Jamaica Premier League game on Thursday.
Treasure Beach snapped a nine- game run without a win to hijack Waterhouse FC and moved up to 34 points, one more than Harbour View who fell back into the drop zone, after their big 4-0 loss to Dunbehoden FC in the first game of a double-header at Drewsland. Karim Bryan gave Treasure Beach the lead in the 26th minute and Jaheim Harris added a second in the 64th minute.
Javane Bryan pulled a goal back for Waterhouse in time added in the second half before Waterhouse missed a penalty that would have seen them share the points.
Kevaughn Wilson scored a double as Arnett Gardens slowed defending champions Cavalier SC’s play-offs qualification, beating them 2-1 at the Anthony Spaulding Complex and cut the gap between both teams to three points.
Wilson scored in the fifth and 47th minutes for Arnett Gardens before Adrian Reid came off the bench to scored in time added to give Cavalier hope of salvaging a point.
Cavalier are on 52 points in sixth place, just ahead of seventh-placed Arnett Gardens.
Odane Samuels scored a first half double to lead Dunbeholden to their big win over Harbour View, scoring in the 35th and 40th minutes before Shakeen Powell in the 71st minute and Marlon Allen in the 77th minute saw them end a two- game winless skid.
Mt Pleasant FA ended a three- game winless run after hammering Chapelton Maroons 5-2 at Drax Hall after the teams were tied at 2-2 at half time.
Chapelton had rallied twice in the first half but had no response in the second half where they conceded three goals as they lost back-to- back games and fell to ninth place in the tables.
Raheem Edwards gave Mt Pleasant the lead in the third minute but Robino Gordon equalised in the 32nd minute for Chapelton.
Daniel Green restored Mt Pleasant’s lead in the 38th minute and once again Leaunghn Williams replied for Chapelton in the 45th minute.
Kimoni Bailey gave Mt Pleasant the lead for the third time, scoring in the 56th minute, Jabarie Howell then made the scores 4-2 when he scored in the 84th before Chapelton conceded an own goal nine minutes into time added.
Despite playing with 10 players from the 52nd minute when Nickoy Gayle was sent off, Portmore United edged Spanish Town Police 1-0 at Royal Lakes.
Tarick Ximines scored the game’s only goal in the 63rd minute.
